I spent monday at Josh shooting some photos with Greg Epperson. We spent 13 hours on this. In the heat. Being pretty is much more difficult than climbing hard. First we have Factor One, a 13a next to Father Figure near Barker Dam.

Then a little Rastafarian.

Now New Deal, possibly the first 14a established by an american.

Finally My Idea of Fun, a cool looking dike out Echo Rock.

Falls and Falls

Dihedron is intense. My first go at the lead was plagued by nerves. For good reason it turns out. I fell and pulled 3 of the 5 pieces I had in! Thank you small-ass BD stopper. I'll try again soon. Some photos from Greg Epperson, and more from Robert Miramontes in the slideshow above.

My dad was down for a few days, so here's a photo of him being badass in his old age. Taken with my small camera that is apparently awesome in the J-Tree sunset. That's one hell of a sunset. I decided to begin shooting instructional how-to photos. Here's the way you abseil.

A new quarter dawns, and with it new methods of procrastination. I had to pass these on:

Robot Girlfriend: So strange, this dude's robot girlfriend got him to go to church and stop watching porn. His parents were skeptical at first, but after seeing the positive changes...I think this is the answer to all of life's problems.

Stuff White People Like: I hate being pigeon holed, but check out he entry for grad school. Also, white people like 80s night because that was the last time popular culture wasn't infused with all that black nonsense.

Two in a Week

Raining in Riverside, sunny in the desert. So depressing to wake up to the dreary weather, but those oldies (nudies?) in Palm Springs were hording all the sun. Yet another reason to leave Riverside, and lord knows there are many.

But the point, I sent another V11 today, the Lamprect Problem (SP?) over by Pigpen. This must be one of the first few ascents, I know this problem isn't repeated often. I think I was special made for this one though. It's always refreshing when those route skills of mine come into play - I got 6 kneebars on this little boulder problem.

Sorry there aren't any photos, this is a left over shot from last weekend in Bishop, courtesy of Johnny. Hey, like I said, this morning was depressing with the rain, and depression leads to forgetfulness, forgetfulness to lack of a camera. Or so I'm told.

[UPDATE] - I hear from a reliable source that this is likely the second ascent of the problem. Not bad, especially since the FA was over five years ago.
